How To Improve the Sound & Video Performance of your Computer

Posted on July 24, 2013 by admin There have been 0 comments

Practically all of us have music and videos stored on our computers and cell phones. But the earbuds and computer speakers that come included with these devices limit the range and the details of the music we hear.
Getting better sound doesn't have to be difficult or complicated: Upgrading just one piece of equipment on your laptop can give you a better sound and viewing experience on your computer. Some of the ways are:

PC Graphics Card
A graphics card is the component in your computer that handles generating the signals that are sent to the monitor or "graphics". It is responsible for generating all the text and pictures that are displayed on your screen.
There are two main types in desktop PCs – onboard (or integrated) or separate.

With an integrated graphics card which is built in to the motherboard, it may be difficult to upgrade the graphics capability at a later date. This design is cheaper but has lower performance.

With a separate graphics card, you get better graphic performance. It fits into a slot on the motherboard and for better viewing experience, you can replace the card with a more powerful one.

Computer Monitor
With a bigger monitor such as a 21 inch display, you’d have a great time watching movies or playing games. They are however more expensive and would require more space.

But if you are on a budget and have less space, a smaller monitor would do the job. They are especially ideal for basic tasks such as checking emails or browsing the internet.

You might also consider displaying your computer’s output on your TV. You can do this on modern flat screen TVs which often do a very good job.

PC Sound
Most computers come with a built-in sound card. A sound card converts your music files into an analog signal that can be played through your speakers — it's called a digital-to-analog converter, or DAC. This is a great place where an upgrade can change your listening experience and here are a few ways to go about it.
• Choose high-quality computer speakers that have their own built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and amplifier. More expensive speakers will give better sound quality, of course – or you can use an existing stereo system to play sound.
• You may also want to think about investing in a surround-sound system. These use multiple speakers (typically five or seven) that you position around you, together with a low-frequency subwoofer that sits beneath the desk.
• For improved audio performance, you can get dedicated computer audio components along with high-fidelity bookshelf speakers.
• Headphones can also offer a useful way of listening to high-quality sound – normal headphones will work fine, but you can also buy dedicated PC headphones that connect to your PC via a USB socket.
